Community Weekly Roundup - Edition 1

Wow! What an action-packed week it’s been. This time last week we were all guessing what the “Big Announcement” was going to be, and now we know - Wix Studio.

Let me start off by saying “Welcome to the Community Weekly Roundup!”.

As the name suggests, this is a weekly topic to round everything up from the week and provide an overview of things coming up next week. The roundup is by and for the community, so keep engaging and contributing (I may even highlight your contributions :wink:).

But before we jump into all that, just a quick note to say that if you haven’t got access to Wix Studio yet, we have a gradual rollout like we usually roll out products at Wix.

There’s also no need to signup on the waitlist, we’re rolling out to Partners first and have you covered :slightly_smiling_face:You’ll get access in the coming weeks and will be notified.

Hold tight, it’ll definitely be worth it! Now, let’s dive straight back in.

Highlights (TL;DR)

  • We introduced Wix Studio - an end-to-end web creation platform for agencies and freelancers. If you haven’t watched the launch event yet, check it out here
  • As part of Wix Studio, we’ve also launched:
    • Wix Studio Community forum - the place to connect and grow with the community of freelancers and agencies using Wix Studio.
    • Wix Studio Discord - connect with other agencies and freelancers in your local geo.
    • Wix Product Roadmap - stay up to date with what we’re working on, planned releases, and newest features. (And coming soon, submit your own requests!)

From the Community

I’m always inspired by the incredible things the community does, and this week has been no different.

Check out this topic by @stevehoanganh who created a site that helps their clients users find cars along with reading about and reviewing them. Driven by the CMS to handle all the site data, this is an incredible example of what can be achieved using Wix. Keep up the good work @stevehoanganh!


Wix Studio News

If you haven’t already, take a read over these topics to Get started with Wix Studio. Even if you don’t have access yet, they’re definitely worth a read to prepare you for when you get hands-on.

In the meantime, here are some of my personal favorite features that are available on Wix Studio:

  • A more intuitive grid experience - The new Section Grid makes building layouts more intuitive. I personally love how I can click a button to split a cell or swap the content of cells with ease. It’s a huge timesaver to create the exact layout you want.
  • No-code interactions - Let me just say, this is BIG! With a rich library of presets that you can customize based on direction, duration, and delay, adding those sparkles to a clients site could never be easier :sparkles:
  • Wix Studio App - Ever been out and about and wanted to respond to a Wix Marketplace lead? Or needed to help a client update an item in their CMS? Now you can do all of that right from your phone. A real lifesaver if you ask me!

New Site-Level SEO Assistant has arrived!

With the SEO Assistant, you can quickly identify the top-level SEO issues to improve your performance on Google Search, get tailored recommendations, make improvements and keep strengthening your SEO.

The SEO Assistant is currently accessible to English-speaking users, but will be rolling out to more languages soon! Stay tuned!


Feedback opportunity - Wix Restaurants

The Wix Restaurants team is currently rolling out a brand new, redesigned online ordering experience and would like to test it with users (especially Partners). You’d jump on a 45-minute session to walk through the new experiences and think out loud as you go.

This is an incredible opportunity to provide feedback and help the Restaurants team understand how users interact with the new experience.

If you ever work with restaurants, catering, bakeries, etc who need online ordering, whether or not they’ve used Wix for that in the past, the team would really love your input!

Totally agree! This week has been incredibly exciting and full of stunning news. Wix Studio has exceeded all expectations, and I’m eager to explore all the possibilities this new tool offers.

Kudos to everyone working at Wix for their ongoing effort to improve and evolve. Your dedication is truly admirable, and it shows in every new update and feature.

I’m looking forward to the next community weekly roundup, it’s always a pleasure to read about the new advancements and upcoming features. This update is indeed interesting, but unfortunately you’ve forgotten a part of those who work on WIX, the developers. With the new system, many of us will encounter difficulties in meeting our customers’ needs, you’ve limited the number of items in a collection instead of limiting the size to 10GB for example, you’ve potentially opened up loopholes for attackers with the monthly quota limit, you’ve limited response speed by blocking the number of indexes to 1… Personally, I get the impression that you’re trying to take on the developer of your platform? For what reason?

I hope you’ll reconsider your decision regarding the CMS.

They should remove the limit on read and write requests. And increase a little more the limit of items in the CMS in the plans.
