Feedback: Wix Events & Seating Plan Feature

Hey all, I have got some feedback for the Wix Events seating plan feature. I am hoping that this feedback can get in-front of the Wix Events PMs.

The seating plan feature is amazing and I would say it is 80% complete, we just need that 20% of additional features added to make this a really robust solution, even some smaller clients are missing these features, not just larger ones.

Feedback #1:

Currently you cannot prevent site visitors from leaving a space between seats. This should be a configurable setting. Let’s say a site visitor picks seats 1 and 2, and then seat 4…this would most likely be an error. But, I feel Wix Events should prevent this and give an error message upon going to continue to checkout “Hey, you cannot leave a single seat on it’s own on the same row, please consider putting your seat selection together”.

Feedback #2:

There is no way to make a specific seat in a row a ‘disability’ seat, which is shown with a disability icon, so that site visitors know that this is a disabled access only seat. There is then no way no assign a specific ticket type to such seats individually. One particular ticket has to be assigned to a full row. For example, I maybe want the disable seat to be cheaper and have a ‘Disable Seat’ ticket assigned to it and the rest of the row has the ‘Standard Ticket’.

Example on ticketmaster below:

Feedback #3:

There is no way to assign ‘restricted viewing’ blocks into seating rows, for example, there may be a pole/pillar on the left and right side of one of the rows, which is going to take 2 seats away from the row, and is going to restrict the viewing of 2 seats on the row behind. (again, would love to be able to assign cheaper tickets to the 2 restricted viewing seats which are located behind the pillars).

This is a standard in any seating plan builder. Example below:

Feedback #4:

On the mobile version of the seating plan checkout, it should be an option to toggle off / on, that the site visitor can select all the seats at once, then add to basket. Currently, the setup Wix Events has on mobile seating plan view, the site visitor must select seat 1 > then add to cart > seat 2 > then add to cart > seat 3 > then add to cart. Other platforms do not operate like this, why did Wix Events choose this particular user experience?

Feedback #5:

On the Wix Events business manager, we can’t change current ticket holders seats. If a customer calls us and wishes to change the seats, how should we handle this? Because right now, there is no way. Again, I feel the full end to end flow hasn’t been thought out here.

Feedback #6:

Would love the ability to slightly curve the seating rows to better match the venues layouts. Some theatres have slightly curved row seating.

Feedback #7:

I have referenced this particular request in various parts of my feedback, but overall, we need to ability to assign different types of tickets to different seats or parts of the rows. Currently you can only set 1 ticket type to the whole row. This is not great in some use cases. (Like I mentioned above, restricted viewing seats, etc).

Feedback #8:

We need the ability on the seating plan editor, to split a row into two, but maintaining the same row number, let’s say the sound and lighting team need a desk at the back of the theatre, this needs to sit in the middle…but it’s the same row. We cannot do this on Wix Events.

Now time for some general Wix Events feedback.

  • Need to ability to refund all ticket holders in full when cancelling an event. Right now, we have to go and manually refund every single order. Let’s say we have 400 orders for tickets on an event that we are cancelling, that is 400 manual refunds. Really not good at all.

  • Need more e-Ticket customisations for the PDF and more stunning layouts. The PDF tickets are a bit boring right now.

  • Need ability to create conditional discounts for ticket events or seating plan events.

  • Ticket Confirmation Email sender name is the Event Title. This needs to change to the Site name. Currently ticket holders get an email with the sender name as ‘from This is my event Title’ when it should be ‘from Site Name’.

The Wix Events platform is incredible, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds - this team for sure is rapid at listening to feedback and implementing, but please, give us the above features. These are standard features for a seating plan events system and without these features, I keep coming up against roadblocks trying to implement this / sell this solution to clients.
