Flaw in Marketplace Lead System That Needs Addressing

I hope this post reaches the right people at Wix, because there’s a fundamental issue with the Partner Marketplace that needs to be fixed—not just for me, but for many other Partners experiencing the same roadblock.

The idea of “Referred Leads” is a great feature in theory, but in practice, it’s completely broken. I’ve received multiple leads through the platform and not a single one has ever replied to my initial outreach. And I’m not even talking about sales conversations—I’m simply asking for basic information to begin a dialogue. Every message is met with silence.

Now here’s the bigger issue: My Marketplace account has been paused because I haven’t “completed a project” in the last 6 months. The reason? All of my referred leads ghosted me, and after waiting 1–2 months with zero replies, I marked them as canceled. But the system doesn’t distinguish between “canceled due to no response” and “no work completed,” so I’ve been penalized.

Meanwhile, my agency has successfully completed over 25 website builds in the last 6 months—just not through the Marketplace. These were clients I brought in through my own efforts, outside of Wix’s ecosystem. And yet, none of that matters. It’s not recognized.

To reinstate my profile, I’m told I need to complete a Marketplace-referred project. But how can I do that if my account is paused and I’m no longer receiving referrals? This is a closed loop with no way out.

This system punishes active professionals and creates an impossible standard for reactivation. I’m asking Wix to seriously evaluate this process and provide a real solution—not just for me, but for every Partner caught in this same situation.

If anyone has found a workaround or received support that actually resolved this issue, please share. Otherwise, Wix: we need your help.

I don’t have much information to share in regards to leads not responding to initial outreach - although it’s valuable feedback and I’ll share with the team :slight_smile:


There are 2 ways projects are started on the marketplace:

  • Clients submitting a request and getting “matched” with a few recommended agencies
  • Clients directly contacting/reaching out to an agency via their profile

After those 6 months of no marketplace projects completed, the automatic matching is disabled, however your profile page still exists, and can be shared with clients who can submit a request.

From experience chatting with others in the community, there are a few things people do to remidy this:

  • Require clients to submit their requests via the marketplace (either at the start of a project, or the end) - so they can mark it as “completed”
  • Ask select clients to submit direct requests for the same reason as above.
