I’m having trouble with
Transferring my current website from it’s domain to a new one in a way that ensures that people using the old domain can still find it

What I’ve tried so far
I have tried looking at the domain part of the Wix dashboard but am concerned that if I get this wrong I might put my current website in an unfindable domain

The safest approach is to connect the new domain to the existing Wix site and keep the old domain connected as well. Set the new domain as the primary domain so the old domain redirects visitors to it automatically.

Before making the change, confirm that both domains are active and connected correctly. After the switch, test several old URLs to make sure they redirect to the equivalent pages on the new domain rather than showing an error.

For search visibility, it is also a good idea to verify the new domain in Google Search Console, submit the updated sitemap, and keep the old domain active long enough for search engines and visitors to follow the redirects.
