Invoices – New Bug: Incorrect Receipt Generation in Online Shop

I am running an online shop via Wix and recently noticed that issuing proper invoices for orders has suddenly become complicated and incorrect. Instead of generating official invoices, only “receipts” are provided, which do not meet legal requirements.

The following issues have arisen:

  • Each order must be clicked individually to download a receipt, which is extremely time-consuming.
  • The downloaded documents do not include an official invoice number.
  • The company’s tax number is missing.
  • The tax office does not accept receipts as official invoices.

Receipts and invoices are two entirely different documents. It is unclear why such a crucial function has suddenly become more complicated and incorrect.

My questions:

  1. Is there a way to automatically generate proper invoices again?
  2. Are you working on a solution to fix this issue?
  3. If Wix has changed this feature, what alternative do you offer for legally compliant invoice generation?

I kindly ask for a prompt response, as this issue directly impacts accounting and tax obligations.

Is there any follow up to this? Same problem, I need invoices NOT receipts and now it seems I have to manually enter all the order information from the online order into an invoice to keep my records in tact. Auto invoices stopped around March 4th for me. This is going to be a deal breaker if they don’t resolve soon.

I know its really frustrating! ;( There is no option to download all invoices anymore…and the support is not really helpfull so far. Please also reply your feedback to the WIX support service. They have to bring the feature back, that you can download all invoices.

Hi, I completely agree with others who’ve raised this issue – I’m experiencing the same problem. It’s not just frustrating; it’s creating additional workload for no valid reason, which I find unacceptable.

This is honestly becoming a dealbreaker for me, and I’m already considering alternative platforms. A tool like Wix should help streamline and automate administrative tasks – not complicate them further. I hope this can be addressed soon.

My website is experiencing the same symptoms and my business is in a panic.
I read in a document somewhere that Wix invoices will not be issued if you have prepaid and the invoice amount is zero, but I think that not being able to issue invoices even if there is no invoice amount is a fatal flaw for a business.

Could this problem be caused by documents not being generated when the invoice amount (receipt) is 0 yen?

I can’t print invoices and receipts for products that were free in a discount sale. Not being able to print documents to be submitted to customers is a fatal flaw. I’d like to see this fixed soon.

Any updates on this?

No updates as of yet - but want to acknowledge that this conversation has been seen and I’m taking it with the team as I’ve seen a few conversations around this recently. Will loop around with more info as I have it

Examining the settings items, it appears that the receipt issuance system relies on templates. Therefore, enhancing the templates (e.g., Japanese format, US format, EU format, etc.) could effectively resolve the issue. Additionally, if users are provided with the ability to customize the fields within the generated templates, they would likely be able to rearrange addresses, add tax numbers, and perform other modifications independently, without needing to request assistance from the development team. I kindly request that you consider implementing this feature.

Let’s make Wix more complete!

hey, it looks like we’re in the same boat.
i have exactly the same problem. it looks like the receipts have been introduced without thinking about the implications for customers who have to fulfil tax requirements.
unfortunately, my customers are also on my back and regularly ask for proper invoices. it’s all incredibly time-consuming for me as I have a lot of orders to handle.

i would be happy if you could download the receipts in bulk. i had opened the following thread: How to bulk download all Wix Store payment receipts (for tax purposes)? - #14 by Mart_Gart

what bothers me most is that there was no proper communication beforehand about what the introduction of the receipts would mean without even mentioning an alternative. without even being asked or having a say.

a few days ago i had mail communication with the product manager of wix and told her my problem. unfortunately i haven’t heard anything since.

Thank you for your idea! The main issue we’re facing right now is that receipts have to be downloaded manually one by one. We often have 50+ orders per day, and in the past, it was possible to download all receipts at once.

This change represents a massive downgrade in functionality. Other platforms like Shopify offer this feature without any issues.

I truly hope this will be resolved soon – otherwise, Wix risks losing many users who rely on efficient workflows for their daily operations.

Yes, totally agree – it’s an absolute disaster for customers and bookkeeping.
Having to manually edit and download every single invoice is just ridiculous… it honestly feels like we’ve been thrown back to the Stone Age.

I don’t understand how something like this could be rolled out without any proper alternative or at least an option to opt out. It’s making everyday work so much harder than it needs to be. The function to download all receipts is also GONE :frowning: So much more work for everyone.

Let’s hope Wix listens – because this is just not sustainable for anyone running a serious business. They only told me we should repond this problem until they fix it.

Do you have any updates here? Is there already an option to download all receipts at once and not have it super complicated to download each single one? This is such a stupid function…I really don´t get how you guys from WIX think this was a good idea…
