I am a Pioneer level member. Been using WIX for 15+ years. My customers have consistently complained about responsiveness on certain screens. So I was glad when I discovered STUDIO wherein this issue has finally been adressed among other improvements. HOWEVER, it is completely beyond me why your developers would not build in a “migration tool” or otherwise accommodate the migration of pages from Classic to STUDIO. Instead, you released the product, are charging more for it - but at the same time forcing ALL your customers to painstakingly REBUILD each and every element of the site from scratch. I just spend the last 35 hours rebuilding my magazine in STUDIO and am still nowhere near finished. Meanwhile my customers have no way to purchase until I rebuild that component - and I can’t even find it on the menu. IT’S RIDICULOUS and self-serving that WIX ever thought this was a good idea. I realize it’s an entirely different platform but it’s insult to injury to charge upgraded fees for a product that can’t be migrated! I am NOT HAPPY!!! And I can only imagine I am one of thousands of customers facing the same thing. This was a poor strategic move - and honestly, if I didn’t have so much already invested, I would leave WIX and move to a more customer friendly platform.
Wix released Editor X few years ago you could switch to Editor X back in time in fact still you can and there is a built-in tool for small size websites that will auto migrate your website to Editor X from Classic Editor.
I didn’t get the 15+ years because Wix is only here for 17 years. And how are you still on pioneer level if you are using Wix for 15+ years.
I agree about pricing and premium plans there is a weird pricing even if it’s not expensive there are some limits that shouldn’t be there especially for developers.
The migration option for Classic Editor to Editor X has not been working for over 6 months. Wix customer service are useless and have no clue what’s happening.
I can’t agree with your point. I tried to upgrade one of our Wix Editor sites to Editor X before, and Editor X is basically a failed product. That’s why Editor X only sustained for such a short time before Wix developed Studio to replace it. We are in the same situation now, needing to rebuild a site if we want a responsive one.
And one question for you: Why did Wix disable the Wix Editor to Editor X migration? Is this a technical issue or a business consideration?
I don’t know why they disabled it I tried to use it once for a big website and it was not working for big websites with a lot of pages.
Wix Editor and Studio (or Editor X) is different, you can’t just easily migrate from a non-responsive site to fully responsive one because it’s not easy to understand how site will respond to different screen size.
It doesn’t matter if you have small or a big website you should re-create it in the responsive editor for best result.
But I think right now you can switch from Wix Editor to Studio Editor via figma plugin, I didn’t try it so I don’t know how good it is but here is the flow:
- You convert your current Wix site’s pages into HTML CSS codes. (there are tools for this)
- Use HTML to figma tools to convert your site to figma design.
- Use figma to Studio tool to convert your design into Studio editor.
But you’ll need to switch data manully which means it’s not a very useful method if you care things outside of the design. I saw this method on a Facebook post so not sure how it works but you can do research on it.
