Hi all,
I started to build my website and the digital content webshop in wix. I already uploaded and have ready a lot of digital products. I would like to move everything to wix-studio but would like to avoid the reuploads and setup the webshop from scratch.
I also have the premium subscription active on the old wix site.
I am ok to let go the webdesign, but it would be good to transfer the content and the subscription.
Is this possible at all?
Thank you!
Best,
Mihaly

Hi Mihaly,
Yes, you can move from Wix to Wix Studio, but it requires some manual steps. Here’s a quick breakdown:
- Products and Content: You can export your product or CMS data (like collections) from your current site and import it into Wix Studio. Unfortunately, digital files will need to be re-uploaded.
- Premium Subscription: You can easily reassign your premium plan to the new site through your Wix account settings.
- Web Design: While your content can be transferred, the design will need to be recreated in Wix Studio. The good news is Wix Studio gives you more creative freedom.
- SEO and Links: Don’t forget to update SEO settings and links to ensure everything stays functional and your traffic isn’t impacted.
It’s a bit of work, but it’s definitely doable! Let me know if you’d like detailed help with any of these steps.
Hi @Mihaly_Sipos,
Moving your website content from Wix to Wix Studio is a bit of a manual process, as Wix Studio doesn’t offer an automatic migration tool yet. Wix Studio is a more advanced platform, offering greater design flexibility and customization options, but it requires some hands-on work to transfer your content. Here’s a simple guide to help you make the move:
Step 1: Set Up Your Wix Studio Project
- Create a New Wix Studio Project: Log into your Wix account and create a new project in Wix Studio. Wix Studio allows you to fully customize your site’s layout and design, giving you more creative freedom than the standard Wix editor.
Step 2: Transfer Your Content Manually
- Copy Text and Images:
- Images: Download your images from your old Wix site and upload them to Wix Studio using the Media Manager.
- Text: Copy and paste the text content from your old Wix pages directly into the corresponding text blocks on your Wix Studio pages.
- Layout and Design: While you can’t directly import your design from Wix, Wix Studio gives you powerful tools to recreate your layout. Use the drag-and-drop features to position text, images, and other elements.
Step 3: Set Up Site Features in Wix Studio
- Add Pages and Navigation: Create the pages you had on your Wix site, and set up your navigation menu. Wix Studio allows you to design your navigation layout to fit your new site’s style.
- Recreate Forms and Interactive Elements: If you had contact forms, newsletter sign-ups, or other interactive features on your Wix site, you’ll need to manually rebuild them in Wix Studio. While Wix Studio offers similar functionality, it’s a good opportunity to enhance or redesign these elements.
Step 4: Test and Publish Your Site
- Preview Your Site: Before publishing, preview your Wix Studio site to ensure everything is set up correctly. Make any adjustments to design, content, or functionality as needed.
- Publish Your Site: Once you’re happy with the look and feel of your new site, publish it to your domain. You can easily connect your domain from the Settings area in Wix Studio.
Step 5: Connect Your Domain and Go Live
- Connect Your Domain: Once everything is set up, connect your custom domain to your new Wix Studio site. This can be done from the Settings area in Wix Studio.
- Publish Your Site: After final testing, hit the publish button to go live with your new site!
Final Thoughts
Wix Studio offers more flexibility and advanced design features, but it might take a little time to get used to its layout and tools. Once you understand how the platform works, the process of transferring your content is fairly straightforward. Take your time, and enjoy the creative freedom that Wix Studio offers!
Thank you for the detailed reply! I am looking into it!
