My biggest pain points and requests as a designer using Editor X

So I’ll start by saying I’m not at all a coder or developer nor am I a web design expert. (so I might not know what I’m talking about)…but that’s the appeal of things like Editor X and it’s competitors. It’s ultimately a “no-code” platform.

And also…I’ll just say…I really like Editor X and appreciate it…because it’s allowing me to do what I definitely couldn’t do before.

But these are just a few things that I feel like Editor X DESPERATELY needs and are constantly causing me headaches as a designer:

  1. I think this is called a CSS class system? But this type of system REALLY needs implemented in Editor X:

This kind of versatility and the ability to save class styles and attributes (including interactions, design styles, animations, etc.) and apply them across various elements would save a thousand headaches and so much time in Editor X.

I know you can kind of get some similar functionality by just designing elements, containers, sections, etc and saving them as “assets” in an asset library. That KIND OF (but not fully) solves the “reusability” side…but it doesn’t solve the quick edit-ability or quick application side of design styles, effects, interactions, etc. And it doesn’t solve making quick GLOBAL CHANGES to anything.

Basically…creating or making any kind of “theme” or “design system” of reusable elements, effects, interactions, etc. that can ALSO be changed/modified/edited globally is a nightmare in Editor X.

  1. Speaking of interactions and effects…we really need a full and better implementation of “no-code” interactions, animations, and effects. I know interactions is in “beta” but I need SO much more from it if Editor X is gonna compete. Really hope we’re going to see a lot more SOON…because Editor X is already pretty far behind on this front. I need like a million more triggers and options. And the ability to save effects and interaction properties…to apply them globally, or modify them globally.

  2. We really need better text features in Editor X. The variable text settings are helpful but there are a lot of issues that I run into with that. Variable fonts also need implemented. The fact that a lot of font settings aren’t available in the site theme, etc., etc.

Amen to points 2 and 3. I love Editor X but not having these features is making it tough to be competitive versus Webflow or Framer.
