Client Entries on the Arena

I have received a thousand plus client requests on the WIX Arena, but I have worked on less than 20 of them for the more than three years I have been an Expert.

One of the main contributing factors to this is that many of the client requests come from people who really don’t need the services or are trying it out to test the service, which I have no problem with. However, as WIX Experts and people who are serious with designing sites, the client form that they fill in their request should be a bit thorough to weed out those who really need the service from those who are just playing about.

Have a look at such a request and tell me if an Expert should take this seriously or just ignore it.

I understand WIX might be having its own policies with regards to why things are as they are. But if we are going to have a serious community of experts who eat and sleep WIX and a vibrant community of WIX users who need the services offered by WIX, then I believe something should be done.

For instance:

  1. If a client wants a blog; The next question they should be asked is if they already have articles for the blog, if yes, upload samples i.e. a word document, a pdf, a jpeg of the work etc. Because honestly speaking, if they want a blog, and they are serious about it, they ought to have been writing somewhere.

  2. If someone wants an e-commerce site; Do they have pictures of the products that they are going to sell? How many products do they want to sell? Are the products Digital or Physical? Do they have the product descriptions? if yes, attach sample pictures and documents.

  3. If they simply want a website for their company or business, they should upload a business description document like a company profile or brochure describing who they are, what they do, their contacts etc.

There should be entries like:

  • Upload your logo: If they don’t have one, an option for an expert to design one.

  • URL of current website or a website that they like the look of. Mandatory

  • Upload company profile. Mandatory for business websites.

  • Enter social media links.

  • Enter the exact budget ( for web design not less than $500, for SEO not less than $250 )

The client form should be used only by people who need the service of an expert. It should be designed to stop scammers and jokers on their tracks and allow those who genuinely need the service to submit a request.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind if the client received a final price for the services they are requesting. If it is possible, WIX can get average charges from the Experts or they themselves can come up with them and have the Client get the final cost. I don’t mind if WIX takes some small percentage.

Currently, anyone can send a request, and when we contact them, most of them don’t even know what they want. It would really be helpful if the client form was streamlined and detailed, such that by the time experts receive the information, we can already have a complete overview of what the client wants and even design a mockup for them ASAP.

Just a few thoughts I have on the WIX Arena.

Sadly, most people who think they need a website don’t know what they want. That’s why you are needed!

Yes - some of these points are very good, and a lot of them can be honed with processes. Also, 1k+ leads and only 20 conversions is incredibly low by our internal average. Settings may need a tweak. I’m not sure how your profile is configured, but I would look into the arena guidelines and just double check your rates, settings, etc are all in order.

Okay, I will look into my settings, rates and go through the guidlines again. Thank you.

Forget those cheap tire kicking people! The whole concept of an arena promotes cheapness and gives the advantage to the client. Best advice. Drop I like a bad habit and don’t even consider any job less than $3500k. People have money and if they don’t f*ck em! There’s 6 billion more people with a horrible website that desperately needs your help! My advice setup your own templates and charge $3.5k to skin them and start off at $7.5k for a custom build. But here’s the trick DO NOT spend more than one week on each project! Book their build week 30 days out. Require them to gather all the content you need from photos, copy, etc. Now when it’s their dedicated time take the content they supplied and bam life is simple! Oh and if they are lazy a$$ clients we’ll make sure your contract States whatever content is provided at the start of their 5 day build is what you are responsible and only required to post. 5 days is more than plenty to post content and go live! But make sure you respect their time and don’t book anyone except them and only focus on their project. Here take a look at my company website and how I have it set up. https://www.ourstud.io/

Our studio has some interesting points, haha. Depending on your process, flow, and pricing model (one time? Recurring? Maintenance?) you can be extremely successful with a variety of price points. Thanks for sharing how you do it, OurStudio.

Sell templates for $299, skin them for $3500 and custom builds starts at $7500

Wow! Let me have a look. Thanks

There are some simple fields that can be added to a client request to make our life as Partners little bit easier. ie. Link to his/her current website if the request is for redesign a site or for mobile setup. Link to his Wix site when applicable. I have noticed that WixArena started to gather that information but why we don’t get it as part of the request. It will save so much communication time.

Thanks,

Muchas gracias

I agree Nessyba. The more comprehensive the request form is, the more company’s and businesses will see the seriousness in WIX Arena and they will in turn be obliged to be authentic and serious about their need for our services, I believe.
