CMS limit email

I’ve received this email from Wix:

The CMS item limit has been reached on the following site(s):

• site 1
• site 2
• site 3

The site(s) are now in a grace period until May 31, 2026, giving you time to manage the content.

What does it mean?
During the grace period, items can still be added to collections. Once the grace period ends, only editing or deleting existing items will be possible—any items already in the CMS will be preserved, but new items can’t be added. Visitor form submissions connected to the CMS will also be blocked after the grace period, as these count toward the item limit. Learn more about limits and quotas here.

What should I do?
To stay within the limit, review the collections and delete any items no longer needed. If the site needs to keep growing its content, upgrade the site’s plan for a higher item limit.

I think this is unfair as all three sites are on legacy wix plans which didn’t have CMS limits when purchased, and are not currently up for renewal.

And when I look on the dashboard under Monitoring → CMS Collection Storage I see that I have no limit (see screenshot below).

So was this email sent in error or are Wix suddenly changing the terms of a product half way through?

This has confused quite a few people recently, so you’re not alone.

What’s happening here is that Wix has introduced CMS item limits across all plans (including legacy ones), but they don’t always display correctly in the Monitoring → CMS Collection Storage section for older plans. So even if the dashboard shows “no limit”, the system can still enforce a backend cap.

So unfortunately this isn’t Wix changing things mid-renewal in the sense of billing, but it is them standardising infrastructure limits across all sites.

If you want to double check, you can open a Wix support ticket and ask them to confirm the exact item count and limit applied to your specific sites.

Dan thanks for responding.

I notice when I check my website’s subscription, it states under features that CMS items are unlimited.

So if this email was sent correctly, it does seem like Wix are pulling the rug from under my feet and changing the product part way through the term.

@kristina123 - will send a personal message to grab some info about the sites in the email vs what you see in the dashboard and take it with the team
