Setting up Wix Studio for Agency Use - Basic Answers Hard to Find

We are a small agency wanting to move away from Divi on WordPress. Excited to see that Wix Studio offers a more robust client dashboard than say Squarespace. But the terminology used in the FAQ and help articles and incomplete info make it very time consuming to get partial answers. Thanks so much for your help!

Questions:
What do we sign up for, Wix Studio? Or do we sign up to be a Partner? Or do we sign up to be Enterprise? Or all three. Can’t find side by side clear explanations. We are simply interested in having all clients sites in a dashboard and possibly making 20% on each that sign up for “Premium.”

“Premium.” Is that any paid plan? Very unclear in the documentation.

Do we pay anything to be on Wix Studio? We don’t pay anything to be a Squarespace agency. We’re in a 14 day trial here and can’t find if we will be charged anything afterwards.

Can our clients A. pay Wix directly B. pay Wix through our dashboard C. Pay us through our dashboard?

Can this all be whitelabeled? If so, will things like the help videos we put in client dashboards refer to Wix?

Is there any in context editing like Divi or WordPress allowing a client to edit within the page layout? Or do they have to drill into a table in the backend dashboard?

Is there anyway to talk to support about technical, billing, etc? Contact Us just leads you in circles to help info.

Hey there, let me answer all your questions one by one (:

You need to create a Wix account, which will let you access the different editors, tools and features that Wix offers. Make each of your team members sign up using their separate email addresses after which, thanks to the newly released Workspace feature, you can invite all your team members to your workspace using the main account that you initially used to sign up. Consider the Workspace as the central hub for all things Wix. You can manage all your Wix websites from this main dashboard. All your team members can access all the sites present in your Workspace.

So,

  1. You need to Sign Up for a Wix account which,
  2. will grant you access to the classic Wix Editor and the new Wix Studio editor and you can use any one of these to build websites, which
  3. Once you’ve built your site and want to remove the Wix branding and take it live on your own custom domain, you will need to upgrade it to one of the many “Premium” plans that Wix offers.

In Wordpress terms, think of the classic Wix Editor and Studio Editor as different website builders, such as WP Bakery and Elementor. Studio is a newer, advanced editor which allows you to create fully responsive websites whereas the classic Wix editor is pixel based and easier to use for people new to Wix.

More on that here:

Yes, like I mentioned, upgrading to Premium refers to buying one of the many subscription plans that Wix offers if you want to remove the Wix branding and connect your own custom domain. There are different plans for different needs, such as basic plans, ecommerce plans (which allow you to accept payments directly from your site) etc.

More on that here:

Now, if you want to earn a percentage whenever you upgrade your client’s site to premium, you need to sign up as a Wix Partner. Once you’ve joined that, you can start earning revenue share for sites that you upgrade to premium, which has varying percentages for varying plans and durations. More on that here:

You don’t have to pay anything to be on Wix Studio. Joining Studio is free for all. There is no payment required. The 14 day money-back guarantee is for the website premium plans that Wix offers when you upgrade the site. You can choose to opt in for a refund for any of the sites that you’ve upgraded to premium within 14 days.

A. Yes, you can let your clients pay directly to Wix. More on that here.
B. & C. Clients will see their site dashboard which is very much like a WordPress site dashboard, not your Workspace. They cannot pay you ‘through’ here.

When you sign up as a partner, you will get the option to replace the Wix logo with you own, however there is no way to whitelabel things entirely. Clients will still have to access their dashboard through wix.com and you can develop a fully custom dashboard using Wix’s Account Level APIs, however your client will still have to visit the Wix dashboard to see site stats, change settings, etc.

That’s the best part of Wix - it is completely drag and drop. Even better than Elementor, in my opinion. Everything you see on the live site is designed as is, right on the frontend. Want to change a text’s position? Simply drag it wherever you want to. Want to change the size of an image? Simply drag its corner to resize it. Want to add a video? Simply open up the Add panel on the left and drag and drop a video onto the page.

Think of it as the Canva of web design.

The best way to get your way around with it is to go through the various courses on the Wix Academy

You can ask the AI chatbot on the support page to connect you to a human customer care expert and can opt for a live chat or you can request a calback. And you can always reach out to this community forum if you have any more questions (:
